About us

True Beauty Ltd started in 2010 with a quaint vintage inspired salon in Wakefield town centre by Elizabeth Speight. With a staff of 3, the salon offered popular treatments and products by Orly, Decleor and Crystal Clear. In September 2012, Liz decided she wanted to take the business in a new direction and recruited manager Chelsy Holland. It was in January 2013 that True Beauty Academy was born offering short intensive day courses accredited by the Britsh Association of Beauty Therapists and Cosmetology or BABTAC. True Beauty Academy offer small, private training facilities with a personal approach to adult beauty. The Academys are easily accessible either by train, car or bus. Our lessons have a relaxed, yet highly professional atmosphere. Our flexible, modern teaching methods are designed to keep up with the rapidly expanding beauty profession. Our staff and tutors are all very friendly and happy to help and assist you towards a stress-free and enjoyable experience. We specialise in teaching short, intensive courses to both the absolute beginners, for those who wish to work for themselves and qualified therapists adding modules to their CVs. Our students can be competent therapists in a relatively short period of time. Our Centre offers a perfect tranquil location to learn the art of how to make people look better and feel wonderful.

The courses are taught by highly experienced and trained staff who work in the Health and Beauty industry when not teaching. This ensures that our courses are highly relevant and applicable to the industry. Our approach to the Health and Beauty career path ensures that you not only have the practical skills required but also have a thorough understanding of the industry.

Our courses prepare you for such areas as Anatomy and Physiology, Professional Ethics, Client Records, Health and Safety, Contra indications, Reception and preparation of clients. Our Accredited courses have no additional fees and may appeal to some, as they are more affordable and can be achieved in one or two days. Discounts are also available on more than one booking.

In 2015 True Beauty Academy partnered Intuitions Ltd in their apprenticeship scheme delivering NVQ’s. Intuitions have an amazing long standing reputation in their hometown of Harrogate and indeed the North Yorkshire district . True Beauty Academy was a finalist in the 2016 BABTAC and CIBTAC awards. We look forward to being part of the Intuitions family.

Chelsy originally started her career as a hairdressing apprentice but quickly decided it wasn’t for her and enrolled at Wakefield College’s Whitwood campus in Castleford to do her Level 2 & 3 beauty therapy qualification. It was at Whitwood, Chelsy was entered into the VTCT World Skills competition representing the Wakefield district. Chelsy won the regional finals, travelling to London as a representative of Yorkshire at the finals. After qualifiying as a beauty therapist Chelsy spent some time in London whilst training for the cruise ships with prestigious company Steiner. She went on to work for Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas and during her break worked in Harrogate at a hotel spa. Chelsy returned to sea this time to work for Onboard Spa onboard the Thomson Celebration. She worked her way up from therapist to spa manager but by 2011 Chelsy wanted to return to the UK. She came home and worked for a gold award Clarins & Decleor salon in Wakefield whilst studying for her Certificate in Education and TAQA award at Huddersfield University.
